Report Unveils Allegations of Payments to President Milei’s Sister in LIBRA Token Scandal
The LIBRA meme coin controversy has taken a new twist after Argentine media revealed shocking allegations involving President Javier Milei’s sister, Karina Milei. According to a report by La Nación, Hayden Davis, co-creator of the LIBRA token and CEO of Kelsier Ventures, allegedly boasted about making payments to Karina Milei to influence the Argentine president.
Allegations of Payment for Political Influence
In a leaked text message, Davis claimed that by paying Karina Milei, he could control President Milei’s actions regarding LIBRA token promotion. The message allegedly stated:
“I send $$ to his sister, and he signs whatever I say and does what I want.”
These revelations, reportedly sent to a crypto investment firm executive in December, have fueled further skepticism about the legitimacy of the LIBRA token. The executive, however, rejected Davis’s offer.
Conflicting Statements & Denials
Despite the leaked messages, Davis’s spokesperson denied any payments were made to either Javier or Karina Milei. In a public statement, Davis refuted the allegations, stating:
“The reports claiming that I paid Javier Milei or his sister Karina Milei to launch the LIBRA memecoin are false. I never made any payments to them, nor did they ask me for them.”
Meanwhile, President Milei has distanced himself from the LIBRA launch, emphasizing that his social media post was merely to promote digital currency adoption and support local businesses, rather than endorsing any specific token.
As the controversy unfolds, questions remain unanswered regarding potential political ties to the LIBRA token and whether payments were indeed made to Milei’s inner circle.
