The U.S. government could consider taking equity stakes in more American semiconductor companies and may even expand this strategy into other industries, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said.

In an interview with CNBC on Monday, Hassett pointed to the recent federal investment in Intel, noting that it may serve as a model for future deals. He suggested that this move highlights Washington’s growing interest in directly supporting strategic sectors of the economy.

Hassett, who also serves as director of the National Economic Council, confirmed that funding from the CHIPS Act is being allocated on schedule, reinforcing the administration’s push to strengthen U.S. semiconductor manufacturing.
