London’s Heathrow Airport evacuated Terminal 4 on Monday after emergency services responded to reports of a possible hazardous materials incident.
The London Fire Brigade said specialist crews were dispatched at 17:01 BST (16:01 GMT) to assess the situation. As a precaution, the terminal was fully evacuated while firefighters investigated the scene.
Heathrow Airport confirmed the temporary closure of Terminal 4 in a social media update. Officials reassured passengers that operations at the airport’s other terminals remained unaffected.
As one of Europe’s busiest airports, Heathrow handles millions of travelers each year across its four terminals.
