German Inflation Eases Slightly to 2.3% in October

Germany’s inflation rate eased slightly in October, coming in at 2.3%, according to data released on Wednesday by the Federal Statistics Office (Destatis). The figure confirms the preliminary estimate published earlier this month.

The harmonised consumer price index (HICP)—used to compare inflation across European Union countries—rose 2.3% year-on-year, down from 2.4% in September. The data suggests that price pressures in Europe’s largest economy are continuing to moderate, offering cautious optimism that inflation remains on a steady downward path.

Destatis noted that more detailed monthly inflation data is available on its official website, providing a breakdown of price changes across key categories such as energy, food, and services.
