German retail sales edged higher in December, but the increase fell short of market expectations. Sales rose by 0.1% from the previous month, according to data released on Monday.
Economists surveyed by Reuters had forecast a slightly stronger monthly rise of 0.2%, indicating consumer spending remained subdued toward the end of the year.
