German Exports Drop 0.5% in August, Defying Market Expectations
Germany’s exports declined by 0.5% in August compared to the previous month, according to data published on Thursday by the Federal Statistics Office.
The result came as a disappointment to analysts, who had forecast a 0.3% increase for the month. The unexpected downturn highlights persistent weakness in Germany’s trade performance amid ongoing global and domestic economic pressures.
The latest figures mark another setback for Europe’s largest economy, which continues to struggle with sluggish demand, high energy costs, and geopolitical uncertainty affecting its export-driven industries.
