Ford Recalls Nearly 605,000 U.S. Vehicles Over Windshield Wiper Defect

Ford has announced a recall of 604,533 vehicles in the United States due to a potential issue with the windshield wiper motor, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The defect could cause the wiper motor to fail, which may reduce driver visibility during adverse weather conditions and increase the risk of a crash.

The safety recall was disclosed by the NHTSA on Thursday as part of its ongoing monitoring of vehicle safety issues in the U.S. automotive market.

In a separate recall action, Ford is also recalling 11,431 additional vehicles in the United States because of a potential manufacturing problem involving the driveshaft. The NHTSA said the driveshaft friction weld could fail, which may lead to the rear driveshaft separating from the vehicle.

If this occurs, drivers could experience a sudden loss of drive power, creating a potential safety hazard while the vehicle is in operation.

Ford has not yet announced further details regarding repair procedures, but affected vehicle owners are typically notified and repairs are carried out through authorized dealerships.
