Ford is recalling 272,645 vehicles in the United States after a defect was found that can cause a loss of park function, increasing the risk of rollaway and potential crashes, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker said the recall affects certain model-year vehicles, including the 2022–2026 F-150 Lightning BEV, 2024–2026 Mustang Mach-E, and 2025–2026 Maverick. Regulators noted that the integrated park module may fail to fully engage when drivers shift the vehicle into the park position, creating a safety risk.
To address the issue, Ford will update the park module software either through an over-the-air update or at authorized dealerships at no cost to vehicle owners, the NHTSA said.
