Exxon Mobil has contacted Iraq’s oil ministry to signal its interest in acquiring Lukoil’s majority stake in the large West Qurna 2 oilfield, according to five Iraqi officials with direct knowledge of the discussions who spoke to Reuters.
Exxon declined to comment on the report, while Lukoil did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for a statement.
