The European Union and the United States are reportedly on the verge of finalizing a mutually beneficial trade agreement, according to EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic.
“We believe we’re very close to reaching a deal,” Sefcovic stated on Monday ahead of a meeting with EU trade ministers in Brussels.
He also cautioned that the 30% tariff threatened by U.S. President Donald Trump could severely disrupt transatlantic trade, potentially bringing it to a halt if enacted.
Sefcovic’s remarks came as EU officials convened in the Belgian capital to continue discussions with U.S. negotiators on the status of trade talks.
