A Chinese woman has pleaded guilty in London to laundering bitcoin linked to an alleged £5 billion ($6.7 billion) fraud case.

The defendant, Qian Zhimin, 47, also known as Zhang Yadi, admitted to one charge of possessing criminal property and another charge of transferring criminal property. The plea was entered at Southwark Crown Court on what had been set as the first day of her trial.

Judge Sally-Ann Hales ordered Qian to remain in custody until sentencing, which will be scheduled at a later date.

During the investigation, British police seized digital wallets containing over 61,000 bitcoin, with a current value of about £5.1 billion. The case highlights one of the largest cryptocurrency-related money laundering prosecutions in the UK.
