Bloomberg: U.S. Officials Preparing for Potential Iran Strike as Early as This Weekend

Senior U.S. officials are reportedly preparing for a possible military strike on Iran as early as this weekend, according to a Bloomberg report published Thursday. However, the situation remains fluid and uncertain.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg noted that top officials are actively considering a window for potential action in the coming days, with the weekend under serious consideration. Leaders across multiple federal agencies have also begun preparing for the possibility of U.S. military engagement.

A direct American strike on Iran would represent a major escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. Tehran has previously warned of severe repercussions if targeted by the U.S.

Iran and Israel continued to exchange strikes on Thursday, marking the seventh consecutive day of military confrontation, with no signs of de-escalation.

Washington’s position on direct involvement remains ambiguous, especially amid mixed messaging from President Donald Trump. While Trump has taken a hardline approach, calling for Iran’s “immediate surrender” earlier this week, he stopped short of confirming direct U.S. military action and left the door open to potential nuclear negotiations with Tehran.

At the same time, the U.S. has been deploying additional military assets to the Middle East, fueling speculation that it may soon become more directly involved. American forces have also been put on alert for potential retaliatory attacks from Iran on U.S. bases in the region.

The conflict reignited last week when Israel launched multiple airstrikes on Iranian territory. In response, Iran retaliated with a wave of advanced missiles targeting key Israeli sites—some of which reportedly penetrated Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.
