According to BofA Global Research, the MacBook Neo represents Apple’s first meaningful entry into the $300 to $800 notebook segment. This is a market where Apple currently holds less than 1% share, leaving substantial room for growth.

Massive Growth Potential Through Market Expansion

The new device is aimed at a customer base Apple has largely overlooked in the past. BofA estimates that this segment could reach a total addressable market of $32 billion by 2026, driven by approximately 72 million notebook shipments within this price range.

With an expected average selling price of around $499, the MacBook Neo is positioned to generate largely incremental revenue, with minimal impact on sales of higher-end models such as the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

Earnings Upside from Market Share Gains

Even modest success in this segment could have a measurable financial impact. Analysts estimate that capturing a 10% market share, combined with operating margins of around 19%, could add approximately $0.03 to Apple’s earnings per share in 2026.

The timing of the launch is also seen as strategic, aligning with broader trends such as “AI at the edge” and upcoming hardware upgrade cycles.
