Anthropic to Invest $50 Billion in New U.S. Data Centers
AI startup Anthropic announced plans to invest $50 billion to build new data centers across the United States, marking one of the largest infrastructure commitments in the artificial intelligence industry to date. The move comes as tech companies accelerate spending to expand AI infrastructure and strengthen U.S. technological leadership.
The company, known for its Claude AI models, said the new facilities will be developed in partnership with infrastructure provider Fluidstack in Texas and New York, with additional sites to follow. Each data center will be custom-built for Anthropic’s needs, supporting its next generation of AI systems.
Strengthening U.S. AI Infrastructure
This latest investment follows a broader industry trend of massive AI spending, as companies seek to increase U.S.-based operations. President Donald Trump has pushed for stronger domestic investments, emphasizing the need for America to lead in artificial intelligence.
In January, Trump directed his administration to create an AI Action Plan to make the U.S. the “world capital in artificial intelligence.” During the Tech and AI Summit in July, major American companies announced multi-billion-dollar AI and energy projects in support of that initiative.
Anthropic said its new project will create 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs across the U.S. as the data centers begin operating in 2026.
Backed by Tech Giants and Growing Rapidly
The company added that this investment will help advance the Trump administration’s AI Action Plan, reinforcing American AI leadership and boosting the nation’s digital infrastructure.
San Francisco-based Anthropic, backed by Alphabet (Google’s parent company) and Amazon, was valued at $183 billion in September. Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, the company now serves over 300,000 enterprise clients and is recognized for developing some of the most advanced large language models, including Claude.
