Shares of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) dropped more than 6% in early Frankfurt trading on Wednesday after the chipmaker projected a modest decline in quarterly revenue. The outlook raised fresh doubts among investors about AMD’s ability to compete effectively with Nvidia in the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence market.
The stock had already closed 1.7% lower in the previous regular trading session. Despite the sharp early move in Frankfurt, AMD shares remain up 13.1% so far this year, reflecting broader optimism around AI-related demand.
