U.S. President Donald Trump has pledged to address any unresolved Starlink access problems in Ukraine, following reports that restrictions on the satellite communication service remain in place.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Friday, Trump said he would intervene if necessary to restore full access to the SpaceX-operated network.
The president also indicated that he had not discussed the latest issue with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk but would contact him if the situation remained unresolved.
Trump Pledges to Resolve Starlink Access Issues in Ukraine
Trump expressed confidence that any remaining problems affecting Ukraine’s Starlink communication systems could be resolved.
He emphasized his willingness to personally intervene if the restrictions continued, suggesting that he could raise the matter directly with Musk.
The U.S. president also defended the SpaceX chief executive, describing him as a trustworthy individual who would not deliberately act improperly.
Trump acknowledged the unusual circumstances surrounding Ukraine’s reliance on communication services operated by a private technology company.
His comments come amid growing questions about the availability of Starlink services and their importance to Ukraine’s communication infrastructure.
Ukrainian Officials Report Continued Starlink Restrictions
Despite Trump’s assurances, Ukrainian officials said Friday that speed limitations affecting Starlink communication systems remained active.
Their statements contradicted the president’s earlier claim that access to the satellite network had been fully restored.
The restrictions were reportedly introduced on October 13, amid deteriorating diplomatic relations between Washington and Kyiv.
Starlink has become an important communication tool in Ukraine, particularly for military operations and maintaining connectivity in areas affected by the ongoing conflict.
Consequently, continued limitations on the service have raised concerns about Ukraine’s ability to maintain reliable communications.
Elon Musk and SpaceX Face Questions Over Service Restoration
The disagreement over Starlink’s operational status has brought renewed attention to Elon Musk and SpaceX.
Although Trump indicated that he had not yet spoken with Musk about the latest reported access problems, he expressed confidence in the technology entrepreneur’s intentions.
The president suggested that direct communication with the SpaceX CEO could help resolve any outstanding difficulties.
However, Ukrainian officials continued to report restrictions, leaving uncertainty about whether full service had been restored.
Ukraine Starlink Access Remains Uncertain
The conflicting statements from Washington and Kyiv highlight the uncertainty surrounding Starlink’s availability in Ukraine.
While Trump has promised to address any remaining technical or access-related problems, Ukrainian authorities maintain that the restrictions have not been fully removed.
The situation also underscores the strategic importance of satellite communications and the growing influence of private technology companies in international security matters.
For now, attention remains focused on whether the United States and SpaceX will take further steps to restore unrestricted Starlink access in Ukraine.
