XRP Ledger v3.2.0 Upgrade Gains Momentum
The XRP Ledger is moving closer to a full xrpld v3.2.0 upgrade, as validator adoption continues to rise across the network. According to XRPL Explorer data, more than 55% of trusted validators are now running the latest version.
This progress comes as the network also reviews the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment, a proposal focused on improving security, reliability, and developer functionality across the XRP Ledger.
Why Validator Adoption Matters
Recent data shows that 55.63% of trusted validators, equal to 84 validators, have upgraded to version 3.2.0. Meanwhile, 353 network nodes, or 42.12%, are also running the latest software.
By comparison, version 3.1.3 is still active on 58 validators and 440 nodes. This means the network is making progress, but the full upgrade has not yet reached the required level of support.
On the XRP Ledger, trusted validators play a key role in approving protocol changes. For a network upgrade to go live, more than 80% of trusted validators must support it continuously for two weeks. As a result, the upgrade still needs around 25% more validator migration before it can be fully activated.
What Changes With XRP Ledger v3.2.0?
The XRP Ledger v3.2.0 release brings several infrastructure upgrades, bug fixes, and developer-focused improvements.
One of the most notable changes is the official renaming of the main server software from rippled to xrpld. This change follows the XLS-0095 proposal and affects several technical areas of the network.
Since June 15, the upgrade has impacted configuration paths, server metadata, database directories, and version naming. Because of this, validators and node operators must update their configurations, deployment scripts, and related systems.
The fixCleanup3_2_0 Amendment
The new release also includes the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment, which focuses on several important security improvements.
The amendment includes fixes related to Single Asset Vaults, the Lending Protocol, permissioned decentralized exchanges, Multi-Purpose Tokens, and permissioned domains.
It also adds new invariant checks designed to prevent deleted accounts from leaving behind ledger artifacts. This helps improve the overall consistency and reliability of the XRP Ledger.
In addition, the update allows users to access XRP Ledger protocol information and server definitions without needing to run a server. This could make integrations easier for wallets, APIs, blockchain explorers, and automated tools.
Lending Protocol Progress Adds Confidence
Support for the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment currently stands at around 40%, which remains below the level required for activation.
However, Ripple’s support for the amendment has created optimism in the community. Confidence has also increased after the XRP Ledger lending protocol passed an important audit.
Still, some concerns remain. A GitHub report highlighted possible validator migration issues, noting that a server may display the new validator public key in service logs while still running with the old key stored in wallet.db.
Overall, the XRP Ledger v3.2.0 upgrade is moving forward, but more validator adoption is still needed before full implementation can take place.
