The United States government is moving at an accelerated pace to process license applications that would allow Nvidia to export its H200 chips to China. However, the company still has no clear timeline on when approvals might be granted, according to Nvidia’s chief financial officer, who spoke on Tuesday.
During a discussion with a JP Morgan analyst at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nvidia CFO Colette Kress explained that demand from China for the H200 chips remains strong. This renewed interest follows a policy shift by US President Donald Trump, who lifted a long-standing restriction on shipping the advanced chips to China last year.
