Leading Chinese technology companies are shifting their artificial intelligence model training overseas to secure access to Nvidia chips and sidestep U.S. restrictions designed to limit their progress in advanced computing, according to a report from the Financial Times on Thursday.
The report states that Alibaba and ByteDance are among the firms developing their newest large language models in data centers across Southeast Asia. The information was provided by two people with direct knowledge of the operations.
