Ford U.S. Sales Rise 1.6% in October as Truck Demand Outpaces EV Decline

Ford Motor Company reported a 1.6% increase in U.S. vehicle sales for October, as strong demand for pickup trucks helped balance out a sharp drop in electric vehicle (EV) sales.

The automaker sold 175,584 vehicles last month, up from 172,756 units in October 2024. Sales were driven primarily by Ford’s popular truck lineup, which continues to perform well despite broader shifts in the auto market.

Pickup truck sales jumped nearly 5% to 105,771 units, with standout growth from the Ranger and Maverick models. These models have remained strong sellers thanks to their mix of affordability, capability, and versatility.

In contrast, electric vehicle sales fell nearly 25% to 4,709 units compared to the same month last year. The decline primarily impacted the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning, two of Ford’s flagship EV models.

The EV sales slowdown follows the expiration of the $7,500 federal tax credit for new electric vehicle purchases. The credits were removed as part of President Donald Trump’s recent tax and spending bill passed in October. Analysts had expected the pullback after a temporary surge in EV demand during the third quarter.

Overall, Ford’s latest sales report highlights how robust truck demand continues to offset challenges in the EV sector, underscoring the company’s strong position in the U.S. automotive market.
