U.S. Approves Multi-Billion Dollar Nvidia Chip Exports to UAE – Bloomberg

The United States government has approved several billion dollars’ worth of Nvidia chip exports to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security recently granted export licenses to Nvidia under a bilateral artificial intelligence (AI) cooperation agreement established between the two nations in May 2025.

The deal aims to strengthen the UAE’s ability to build large-scale data centers, which are essential for developing and training advanced AI models.

Bloomberg noted that the approval followed the UAE’s commitment to make reciprocal investments in the United States, as part of a broader technology and economic partnership.

Nvidia declined to comment on the report. However, a Commerce Department spokesperson told Bloomberg that the agency remains “fully committed to the transformational U.S.-UAE AI partnership deal.

The White House and U.S. Department of Commerce did not immediately respond to Reuters’ requests for comment, and UAE representatives could not be reached for confirmation.

Earlier this year, Reuters reported that the U.S. had reached a preliminary agreement allowing the UAE to import up to 500,000 of Nvidia’s most advanced AI chips per year, beginning in 2025. The arrangement is expected to last at least through 2027, with the potential to extend until 2030.

President Donald Trump has made strengthening relations with Gulf nations a major priority of his administration. During his May 2025 visit to the region, Trump announced $600 billion in economic commitments from Saudi Arabia, including large-scale chip purchase agreements involving Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Qualcomm.
