United States Antimony Corporation (USAC) announced on Tuesday that it has secured an exclusive five-year contract with the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency valued at up to $245 million. Under the deal, the company will supply antimony metal ingots for America’s defense stockpile.

The agreement highlights the Trump administration’s broader push to strengthen U.S. supply chains for critical minerals. Rising geopolitical tensions and heavy reliance on foreign sources, especially China, have increased the urgency of securing domestic production.

President Donald Trump has introduced several executive orders and policies to safeguard U.S. access to essential minerals. He stressed that critical resources like antimony are vital for both national security and economic independence.

Antimony is a strategic material widely used in munitions, flame retardants, batteries, and advanced military compounds. Defense officials have long identified it as a weak point in the U.S. industrial base.

“It’s incredibly meaningful for our employees to contribute to strengthening America’s defense readiness,” USAC CEO Gary C. Evans said in a statement.

USAC operates the only two antimony smelters in North America. The company confirmed it is ready to begin immediate deliveries from its domestic facilities, with the first shipment expected this week.

The new contract follows extensive negotiations and builds on USAC’s deepening collaboration with the Department of Defense, which accelerated in late 2024.
