Ford is recalling 1.9 million vehicles worldwide due to defective rear-view cameras, the automaker confirmed on Tuesday. It is the latest in a series of recalls linked to this issue.

The recall affects multiple 2015–2019 models, including the Lincoln MKC, Lincoln Navigator, Mustang, F-250 through F-550 trucks, Expedition, Edge, Transit, Transit Connect, Econoline, and Ranger. The cameras in these vehicles may show distorted, inverted, or blank images, according to Ford’s filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Of the total, about 1.45 million vehicles are in the United States, 122,000 are in Canada, and roughly 300,000 are in other global markets.

Ford said it has received 44,123 warranty claims tied to this defect and confirmed 18 related accidents, though no injuries were reported. Dealers will inspect and replace affected cameras, NHTSA said.

This recall follows several earlier actions. In April, Ford recalled 160,000 vehicles from the 2015 model year for similar failures. In November, the automaker agreed to pay a $165 million penalty after NHTSA determined Ford delayed recalls of defective cameras.

NHTSA first opened an investigation in August 2021 after Ford recalled 620,246 vehicles in 2020 for the same issue. That recall was later expanded in 2022 and again in March 2024, adding about 24,000 more vehicles.

As part of the latest recall, NHTSA noted that it referred seven additional complaints of rear-camera failures in 2015–2018 models for review.

Separately, Canadian supplier Magna International is also recalling more than 250,000 rear-view cameras installed in select Ford and Stellantis vehicles, the agency said.
