Alphabet’s Google is expected to be hit with a new antitrust fine from the European Union over its adtech practices, according to a Reuters report citing three sources familiar with the matter. The fine is anticipated to be announced on Friday.
The European Commission had originally planned to issue the penalty on Monday. However, the decision was postponed after EU trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic raised concerns about ongoing tensions with the United States over potential tariffs on European cars.
The fine will now be delivered by EU antitrust chief Teresa Ribera. Her original schedule was disrupted earlier in the week due to the internal disagreement within the Commission.
