Spain’s EU-harmonised 12-month inflation rate held steady at 2.7% in August, unchanged from July, according to preliminary data released on Friday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

The figure matched the 2.7% forecast from analysts surveyed by Reuters. Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as fresh food and energy, was reported at 2.4% year-on-year, INE said.

Spain’s national 12-month inflation rate also stood at 2.7% in August, the same as July and slightly below the 2.8% expected by economists.
