Ford Motor has announced a recall of nearly 500,000 vehicles in the United States due to a potential brake fluid leak, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The problem stems from a ruptured brake hose that may cause fluid to leak. This defect can increase stopping distances and raise the risk of accidents. Ford stated that, so far, no crashes or injuries related to the issue have been reported.
The recall affects Ford Edge SUVs from model years 2015 to 2018, as well as Lincoln MKX vehicles built between 2016 and 2018. NHTSA estimates that around 1% of the recalled cars may have the defect.
In addition to this, Ford has announced two separate recalls. More than 213,000 vehicles are being recalled for faulty tail lights, and another 100,900 vehicles are being recalled due to the possibility of airbags tearing when deployed.
These recalls highlight the importance of vehicle safety checks and timely repairs, especially when defects may impact essential safety features like braking and airbags.
