Apple May Use Google’s Gemini AI to Power New Siri Upgrade

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is reportedly exploring the use of Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence model to power a redesigned version of its Siri voice assistant. The move could signal a major shift in Apple’s approach, as the company considers outsourcing more of its AI technology.

According to a Bloomberg report on Friday, Apple has held early discussions with Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) about developing a customized AI model to serve as the foundation for a new Siri expected in 2026. Sources said Google has already begun training a potential model that could run directly on Apple’s servers.

Apple has not yet made a final decision. The company is still weighing whether to continue with its in-house AI models for Siri or partner with an external provider like Google. A final choice is expected in the coming weeks, though no partner has been confirmed.

This potential partnership follows delays with Apple’s previously announced Siri upgrade. Originally scheduled for release in spring 2025, the update was pushed back by a year due to technical and engineering setbacks. Analysts note that if Apple does move forward with Google’s Gemini, it could represent one of the most significant collaborations between the two tech giants in recent years.
