India’s Wholesale Prices Drop 0.58% in July, Surpassing Forecasts
India’s wholesale prices fell 0.58% year-on-year in July, according to government data released on Thursday.
The decline was sharper than the 0.13% drop recorded in June and exceeded market expectations. Economists had forecast a 0.3% year-on-year fall in the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for July.
The figures, published in the government’s monthly economic indicators report, offer insight into wholesale-level price trends across the Indian economy.
