Meta Recruits Top AI Talent From Google DeepMind Amid AI Expansion Push
Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) has brought on board three AI researchers from Google’s DeepMind as part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s intensifying efforts to bolster the company’s artificial intelligence capabilities.
The latest hires — Tianhe Yu, Cosmo Du, and Weiyue Wang — previously contributed to a version of Google’s Gemini model that achieved gold medal-level performance in solving problems from this year’s International Math Olympiad, The Information reported, citing sources familiar with the situation.
This move reflects Meta’s ongoing strategy to bounce back from earlier challenges this year by aggressively acquiring top AI talent. Over the past month, Meta has also attracted researchers from OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI, as part of its initiative to build out the newly established Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL).
With Yu, Du, and Wang now joining the company, Meta has hired at least six researchers from DeepMind, signaling its serious commitment to becoming a dominant force in the AI space.
