China Confirms Travel Ban on Wells Fargo Banker Over Criminal Investigation
China’s Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday that Chenyue Mao, a banker with Wells Fargo, is currently barred from leaving the country due to her connection to a criminal investigation.
During a regular press briefing, ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that Chinese law enforcement has legally imposed an exit restriction on Mao as part of the ongoing probe.
The ministry said Mao is expected to cooperate fully with the investigation.
Guo emphasized that China will safeguard Mao’s lawful rights and interests throughout the legal process.
