Mercado Bitcoin Partners with Ripple to Tokenize $200M in Real-World Assets on XRP Ledger

Mercado Bitcoin has deepened its collaboration with Ripple to enhance its international presence by tokenizing $200 million worth of real-world assets (RWAs) on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

In a recent announcement, the Brazilian digital asset platform revealed plans to issue over $200 million in permissioned RWAs—including fixed-income and equity-income products—on the XRPL. Ripple will support the integration, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to the XRPL.

This initiative represents one of the largest RWA tokenization efforts by a Latin American company on the network and supports Mercado Bitcoin’s goal of expanding global liquidity and offering regulated digital financial products across South America and Europe.

The move follows similar developments, such as Ondo Finance’s tokenized U.S. Treasury fund (OUSG) and Guggenheim’s Digital Commercial Paper, both of which recently launched on the XRPL.

Mercado Bitcoin and Ripple already have a history of partnership, with the exchange utilizing Ripple’s payment infrastructure to manage cross-border treasury operations between Brazil and Portugal. The exchange also lists Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin and was the first in Brazil to integrate Ripple’s payment services.

Silvio Pegado, Ripple’s Managing Director for Latin America, emphasized that the collaboration demonstrates institutional trust in public blockchain networks. He noted that the XRPL provides the infrastructure necessary to bring traditional financial assets on-chain with efficiency, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
