China Condemns U.S. Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites, Urges Ceasefire
China has strongly criticized the United States for its recent airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, according to state media reports, and has called on Israel to implement a ceasefire without delay.
A spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, quoted by state outlets, stated that Beijing “firmly condemns the U.S. attacks on Iran and the bombing of nuclear facilities” that are monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The U.S. launched strikes over the weekend targeting three major Iranian nuclear sites, claiming the goal was to stop Iran’s nuclear development. The strikes occurred amid intensifying conflict between Iran and Israel, despite Iran’s repeated denials that it seeks to produce nuclear weapons.
In response to the escalating situation, China began evacuating a large number of its citizens from Iran over the weekend.
