Social media platform X began showing signs of stabilizing on Saturday after a widespread outage impacted thousands of users across the United States, according to data from tracking site Downdetector.com.

The number of disruption reports had dropped to approximately 1,041 by 7:42 p.m. ET, down significantly from a peak of over 10,000 earlier, Downdetector noted. The site compiles outage data using reports submitted by users, so the actual scale of impact may differ.

In May, Elon Musk—who invested nearly $300 million to support former President Donald Trump and other Republican candidates—said he had resumed a non-stop work schedule across his businesses.

“Back to working around the clock and sleeping in offices, server rooms, and factories,” Musk posted on X. “I need to focus heavily on X, xAI, and Tesla, especially with a Starship launch scheduled for next week, as we’re rolling out critical technologies.”

He also acknowledged the recent issues: “As the uptime problems on X this week have shown, we need to make significant operational improvements.”

A similar outage in March had prompted Musk to blame a cyberattack. As of now, X has not responded to a Reuters request for comment.
