Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has reaffirmed his pledges to pardon Ross Ulbricht and ensure all Bitcoin is “made in the USA.”

With Election Day fast approaching in the U.S. and early voting underway, Trump used his social media platforms to remind voters of his crypto-friendly campaign promises. In posts on Truth Social and X on October 31, he called on his eight million followers to support him in the 2024 election, reiterating his commitment to producing Bitcoin domestically.

Trump’s message also included a “Happy 16th Anniversary” note for the Bitcoin whitepaper and a promise to end Vice President Kamala Harris’ perceived “war on crypto,” despite Harris’s own stated support for the industry.

Most polls currently show a close race between Trump and Harris in key battleground states. Early voting in states like Georgia, Texas, Arizona, Idaho, Utah, and Nevada wraps up on November 1, while others continue through Election Day on November 5.

This pro-crypto stance marks a shift for Trump, who previously labeled Bitcoin a “scam” in 2021. Now, as he campaigns for reelection, he has promised to pardon Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht, limit all BTC mining to within U.S. borders, and block the development of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) by the government.

As the election nears, social media has been flooded with misinformation about the candidates’ crypto policies. On October 30, MicroStrategy’s Michael Saylor shared fabricated quotes on X, suggesting Trump proposed eliminating capital gains tax on crypto—a post that, as of this writing, remains active and was also reshared by Bitcoin advocate Anthony Pompliano on LinkedIn.
